How to Install AT&T DSL Software without a CD Drive

AT&T DSL typically requires a CD to properly set up your Internet connection. However, if you have lost your installation CD, there is still another way to set up your connection. You can access your modem's interface through any Web browser. From there, you can run an automatic configuration and set up your connection through several short steps.

Items you will need :-
                            Windows XP, Vista or 7
2Wire DSL Modem (provided by AT&T)
Step 1
Open your Internet browser and type "192.168.1254" in the address field.

Step 2
Click "Run System Setup Wizard" in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Step 3
Click "Next" until you arrive at a page title "Connection Information."

Step 4
Type your AT&T email address in the "Username" field.

Step 5
Type your AT&T email password in the "Password" field. Click "Next."

Step 6
Click "Exit/Finish" to finalize your connection.

Tips & Warnings:-
This tutorial works only for certain kinds of modems, such as 2Wire, that AT&T supplies for its DSL service.
If you type "192.168.1.254" in the address field and nothing appears, type "gateway.2wire.net" instead.
If you are prompted for a password before running the System Setup Wizard, type your system password. This password is different from your AT&T email password and should have been created when your Internet was first set up. If you do not remember the password or never set one up, type the 10-digit code located on the modem to create a new password.
